NYU Stern

rethinking required

NYU Stern School of Business wanted its MBA orientation to raise expectations about the program. We brought their vision to life by engaging incoming students in a new,  more interactive and relevant experience. From the Stern home page to the microsite to the mobile site to the speakers’ presentations, every touchpoint worked together to broaden their view of business school and what's possible. In the words of one full-time MBA student, "Launch made me confident I made the right choice of school. And the mobile site was critical. I would have been dead in the water without it." Ultimately, Launch 2011 reaffirmed their choice of Stern and set the tone for the next 2 years.

Preparing for what's possible

From the get go, new students sensed Launch 2011 would be more like a TED conference than a business school orientation. The teasers and launch website posed big questions and grabbed attention with bold, provocative messaging and visuals. By spotlighting the impressive roster of speakers and encouraging feedback on Facebook, student excitement and interest was sparked even before they arrived on campus.

Connecting on the go

Stern's new students live and work on their smartphones and tablets. They expect to access information anywhere and anytime. So we created an elegant, functional mobile site that made it easy for them to find out where they needed to be and when. Additionally, LED screens displayed daily schedules onsite.

Deepening the experience

It seems simple: a PowerPoint template and design system that standardizes the look and feel of every presentation. But the wrapper we created for the speakers underscored the interconnectivity between the topics and ideas presented, and how they link to the overarching themes of Launch and the larger Stern experience.
